Library Care Package

I was just on a care package roll a few weeks ago. One of my best friends is still in school for Social Work and it keeps her busy, especially in the library. I remember those late nights up studying and hanging out in the library. I decided to put together a sweet care package for her late nights in the library.

What's inside?

- A variety of snacks- sweet, sour, salty
- Favorite drink
- Fun pens and pencils to get work done
- Note pad to remember things to do

Then you find a super cute bag like this one from Target and add the goodies and hand to a super stressed friend.

Deployment Survival Care Package

My sweet friend who lives in Tennessee husband deployed this month. I wanted to do something for her but living so far away my options were limited. I decided to send her a care package. I searched and searched on Pinterest and Googled and could not find anyone who had posted on what to send to the wife of a deployed solider, only what to send to a deployed solider. So I had to get creative. I headed over to the trusty Target and got to shopping.

What's inside?

- Cute little note cards to write love letters to her husband
- Fancy pens to write said love letter
- Bubbles to enjoy a relaxing bath
- Lotion for post bath continued relaxing
- A candle that smells like the beach since we are both from Charleston
- Gold nail polish for sassy nails :)
- Valentine's Balloons that are tiny that when hit pop up into balloons to add to her husband's Valentine's package
- A Taylor Swift card, to remind her of the Country Music Festival we will be attending in June in Nashville
- A Deployment Survival Cup, which is a wine glass from Etsy

I found a super cute pink and green chevron packing envelope at Target. Pack all of your goodies into the cute envelope and mail!

Twenty-Two

My dear friend Annie turned 22 on Sunday so we loaded up the car and headed up to Charlotte. We first headed to Southpark Mall. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. A girls shopping trip is already in the works for sometime soon with my sister and a friend.

Then we headed over to Trampoline World. It was so much fun! I was exhausted after 5 minutes and still had 55 minutes left. And I was super sore the next two days. It was a great workout and super fun!

Then we went to Cheesecake Factory for dinner and it was delicious. I hadn't been in forever, oh I missed it. We embarrassed Annie by getting everyone to sing Happy Birthday and got delicious cheesecake!

Happy Birthday sweet friend. Hope 22 is good to you!

Happy Monday

So after FINALLY getting computer access at work Friday afternoon, I come to work the morning just to find out the networks are down and I again can't get on the computer. So I'm just sitting. Again. Like I did for two and a half days last week. I just don't understand a company this big with this many computer issues. Anyway.

My work clothes challenge has gone well. I'll be posting pictures after I have more than just 3 days worth.

Hope you are having a better Monday than I am.

New Beginnings

Happy 2013! Hope you had a nice and restful Christmas, mine sure was. So I don't have any resolutions, well maybe my resolution is to make goals for every month. Each month I want to have several things that I would like to accomplish. I wrote January's goal a few weeks ago:

-employment   I can cross this off the list already because I start tomorrow!
-gym 3 times a week
-no fast food
-blog 3 times a week
-stick to cleaning schedule
-have at least 20 families at Kidtown Open House

To go along with employment and I guess these goals too, I have been challenged to only wear what is already in my closet to work each day for the first month. Then for the second month, I can buy 5 staple items to add to my wardrobe. If you saw the size of my closet, you know the challenge of it is not coming up with a month's worth of outfits, but stopping myself from shopping :)

Have a great 2013 and I'll be seeing more of you on the blog, with house updates, goal progress updates and clothing choices.

Diaper Butterfly

I came across this gem this morning on Pinterest and knew that I had to make them for my friend Brook who is having her third baby sometime around the end of January/beginning of February. Since there were no instructions with the link, I decided I'd make them and share a tutorial!

Supplies needed: diapers, onesies (or another baby item, the picture showed washcloths, but I decided to go with onesies), ribbon, pipe cleaners and sisscors.

1. Take 2 diapers and tie them together with ribbon.

2. Fold a pipe cleaner in half, then curl the tops.

3. Roll the onesie up, before rolling all the way, put the pipe cleaner about half way down.

4. Tie the rolled up onsie onto the diapers. Make sure to put the ribbon underneath the ribbon used to tie the diapers together so the onesie is attached.

5. Add two more ribbons. Slide the ribbons around so the knot is not showing.

Enjoy these great, usable gifts!

Saturdays Down South Season Wrap up

As I sit here in my bed watching football, anxiously awaiting 4:00 to see the SEC Championship Game, obviously the best game on TV today, I'm reflecting on our season.

It seemed almost like yesterday and so long ago at the same time that I was boarding a plane to Nashville to see the Thursday night college kick off game vs. Vandy. It wasn't pretty, but a win is a win.

Then back to Columbia for some great games and tailgating with friends and family.

Top Ten Memories from 2012 season (in no particular order)

1. Sitting with my family this season, instead of the student section

2. Beating Georgia :)

3. Having GameDay come for the Georgia game

4. Road trip to Florida with Alek

5. Parents Weekend tailgate with the Reidel's

6. Marcus Lattimore's injury vs. Tennessee :(

7. Beating Clemson for the 4th year in a row

8. Being undefeated at home

9. Clowney-excited to see how he improves in the offseason. He will be one scary guy next year

10. Homemade cornhole boards and getting competitive with it

It was a great season only losing 2 games and I'm so proud of the whole team. It was awesome to see players set up when needed (best example: Dylan Thompson at Clemson). Can't wait until next season, but until then I will soon have baseball to hold me over. Go Cocks!
