Give Thanks

The holiday season is upon us! I love the holidays. I think that Thanksgiving is my favorite, just because I get to see basically my entire extended family. I have a super small and close family and I love it.

Last night was Vista Lights with a tree lighting. It was so fun. It wasn't New York City at Rockefeller Center but it still got me in the Christmas spirit.

I was super close so it's a bad angle and then forgot to get a better picture.

I finally finished and put up my Give Thanks banner. I started it a few weeks ago but then didn't have all the materials to be able to hang it up.

I thought I would post a little tutorial so you can make one of your very own!

I saw a pin on Pinterest that had all the letters to print for a banner. I did not like the font of the letters or the color, since I wanted it to be fallish...SO I used that as a template for the background.

I printed one letter on cardstock as a template and then traced it onto Thanksgiving scrapbook paper. I got a Holiday pack of super cute scrapbook paper at Hobby Lobby for $8. I can't wait to use it for other holidays!

I used Word to create a smaller triangle for the letters. Then WordArt to place the letters in the triangle. If you would like me to send you the document, comment and let me know and I'll send it to you.

I then cut out the letters and glued them on to the scrapbook paper.

To hang it up, I used twine and the mini clothes pins. The regular sized ones were too heavy and made it fall forward.

Here is the finished product :)

Happy Holiday Season!

Loving Lately

Here are just a few of the things I'm loving right now

1. My space heater in my bedroom. I literally never want to get out of bed. It is so cozy. Last weekend my parents also brought one for my living room. I'm cheap and don't turn the heat on until it is freezing, so these heaters make life so much better :)

2. Dancing With the Starts: All-Stars Season

I usually never watch this. I watched the first season but never since then. But this season with the return of the best people and some of my favorites I had to watch. I'm obsessed with Shawn Johnson, Melissa Raycroft and Kelly Monaco. As long as one of those three will I will be happy.

3. Speaking of Kelly Monaco...I'm obsessed with General Hospital.

I found this show one summer in high school and watched it every day that summer. While in college, I nannyed everyday starting the same time it came on. When I got the DVR when I moved in the new house I decided to DVR it everyday. BEST DECISION EVER. I love it. There are somethings that I have to google that I have missed but for the most part I know what is going on.

4. Also loving how Netflix automatically advances to the next episode without me having to do anything. It absolutely comes in handy with my current Alias obsession. Speaking of that, I must be watching it to much. I had a dream last night that I was part of an extraction team to save someone.

5. Baby Selah Grace. This little baby is 3 months old and I feel like she changes every time I go babysit.

What you are loving these days?

S'more Please

Pinterest is my favorite. I really don't know what I did before it. I use it for craft ideas, dinner ideas, dessert ideas, outfit inspiration, house inspiration and ideas for the future. Two fun bloggers, Stephanie and Katie host a Saw It, Pinned It, Did It link up each week. It's so fun to see what everyone is creating from Pinterest.

This morning my friend Kelly came over with all the ingredients for marshmallow chocolate chip cookies or S'more Brownies. We chose the brownies because let's face it, brownies are the best.

She had pinned the recipe, so we pulled it up and got started. It was super simple and delicious.

First, you make brownies according to the directions on the box.

Once the brownies are done, let them cool for a minute or so and then sprinkle marshmallows on top.
Then take the broken up graham crackers and sprinkle them on top.
Broil that for a minute or until the marshmallows brown. It works fast, so pay attention.
Take it out and add the broken up chocolate on top.
Let cool and enjoy!
The original blog has more details, this is just the simple version.

State History

I truly love history. Well American history. From the time we came to America in colonial times up until probably the early eighties is my favorite. Part of it has to do with growing up in Virginia and visiting Jamestown and Williamsburg. I would love to plan a trip up to Williamsburg soon. It is beautiful at Christmastime. Anyway last Saturday Carolina had a bye so there was no tailgating or football so I looked for something fun to do in Columbia. I found out they were giving free tours of the Statehouse. The history lover in me HAD to go. I loved it and the little bit of South Carolina history I learned. I put a South Carolina state history book on my Christmas list so I can learn more. I'm so excited. Here are some pictures from the tour.

Come back soon to see a fun challenge I've been given by a friend. And of course more Carolina football :)

Number 21

Marcus Lattimore is the most loved player at USC and possibly the nation. To see him come back from last year's injury early was inspiring. He is so fun to watch and a great player. But ever greater off the field. He is so humble and just loves the Lord so much.

Last Saturday, during the Tennessee game, to see him down on the field, not getting up broke my heart. He had just worked so hard to come back and there he was again, injured. Tears came to my eyes as I realized how bad it was. Tears started falling as the entire team walked out on the field in support of their teammate. Tears kept falling as half of the Tennessee team also came out on the field to support an injured player. This picture just shows how much Lattimore is loved, supported and respected, not only by USC but by college football.

Tweets from all over started pouring in showing their support for Marcus. This man is so loved by so many people. The Monday after the game was his 21st birthday. Student Government hosted a Birthday Rally for Marcus. President Pastides, Coach Spurrier, Kenny Miles, Dylan Thompson and others spoke and we sang to Marcus. My favorite part is the we prayed twice. The Lord is using Marcus and this injury for His good and His glory and I am sure Marcus knows that and loves it. Today at the mall there were signs saying Get Well Marcus and signs for fans to write notes to him. Marcus Lattimore is so loved by Gamecock Nation and we can't wait to see him back on the field in 2014!

Get well soon Marcus! Can't wait to see you at Williams-Brice again soon.

#3cities2girls1weekend

Last weekend the bestie and I hopped in the car Friday afternoon when I got off work and headed to Charleston. We spent Friday night hanging out with my sister, eating dinner downtown and having a chill night at my parents house. We ate at Taco Boy. I've always heard great things but have never been. It was delicious. We woke up at 4:30 am to get ready and head down to Gainesville. It had been a long time since I had been up that early, but the exciting day ahead made it worth it. Here we are at the Florida Welcome Center. They give out free orange juice to travelers.

Unfortunately, the fans were the only ones who showed up for the game and we sure were embarrassed. As the Old Ball Coach said the boys gave the ball to Florida because they did not want to win. It was a hard game to watch. We ended up leaving early and going to the famous The Swamp bar, grabbed some dinner and headed to our hotel. After a wonderful nights sleep we headed to Savannah. Neither one of us had ever been before and we were super excited. We spent the afternoon walking around the Riverwalk, riding the ferry and just taking in the city. We loved it and plan to head back with friends in the spring.

Happy Fall yall!
