Spring Break

This week a ton of my friends are down in Miami on a mission trip for Spring Break. Oh how I wish I was with them. My Spring Break trips were some of my favorite parts of college. Sophomore year, we went to Boston; junior year to Philly and senior year to Brooklyn.

Saturday morning I woke up super grumpy the fact that I was not on my way down to Miami with friends and church family. I finally got over it around lunchtime when the roomie took me to Target. (its Target, it will change anyone’s mood haha). Instagram currently gets me super jealous of all the beautiful pictures from Miami. Thanks for this picture Kara. :)

Boston.

Philly. I was on the planning team this year and this is literally the only picture I could find. (To do list, find pictures from Philly. I know there are a few)

New York.

Praying for those down in Miami this week and I cannot wait to hear stories :)

Just Another Day at the Office

Literally nothing to do

Loving Lately

1. My new Lilly Planner.

I had a May book and used it for less than a month before I had enough. I am super picky about my planners and the spacing and lines and all of that. The Lilly planner is so much better than May books.

2. Kidtown

I love children's ministry. I love building relationships with kids and their parents. I love my volunteers. Sunday's run effortlessly hugely due to my awesome volunteers. We had an open house recently and it was such a great night.

3. My DVR

I have become a grandma and cannot stay up late enough to watch some of my favorite TV shows. So glad to be able to record and then fast forward through the commercials :)

4. Neighborhood walks with Cecelia

I love my neighborhood. I have a love/hate relationship with the hills. Love the workout they give, hate walking up them. Cecelia gives me just the motivation I need to make our walks successful.

5. Baseball Season!

I adore baseball season. I love being at Carolina Stadium. I love the road to Omaha, it sometimes gets bumpy, but that's the fun of it.

Powder Room

Two posts back to back and with a house update?!? I know, foreign to the blog, but I want to get better about this.

I am in love with the fact there is a half bath downstairs. I always think it is so awkward when you have to go into a bathroom with personals in it. I much prefer a simple bathroom for guests when I go to someones home.

I wanted to pull the navy in from the kitchen and living room, but wanted to add a new color, so I chose yellow.

Sweet Valentine's Day present from my mom. She has a new monogram machine and is monogramming up a storm. She guessed on the color and it was a perfect match!

These are some of my favorite pictures from our trips down to Mexico. All I did was modge podge scrapbook paper onto a canvas and then modge podge the picture onto the paper.

My parents had a extra mirror that was in their half bath they brought to me instead of the huge piece of mirror the builders put up.

Laundry

I first started this blog when I bought my house to show off my house and how I decorated it. I epically failed at that for the most part. Well actually, I can't make a decision to save my life so things are finally all coming together.

Today you get to see the laundry room. When I rented, the house came with a washer and dryer. This house did not. My sweet parents gave me their washer and dryer and got a new one. I think they got the better end of the deal. ;)

To continue my love for chevron, I got a chevron curtain (from Esty, of course) to hide everything that typically goes in a laundry room.

This cute piece was in my parents kitchen but they gifted it to me when I moved in. It's great to throw stuff in that we need easier access to.

I searched and searched on Pinterest for something cute to decorate the laundry room with and saw these cute decorated letters. (It's just scrapbook paper modge podged on-super simple)

And to continue to love of chevron, curtains tied up with bows (which need some adjusting, add that to the to-do list :) )

Having a decorated laundry room helps make doing laundry just a tad more enjoyable ;)

Library Care Package

I was just on a care package roll a few weeks ago. One of my best friends is still in school for Social Work and it keeps her busy, especially in the library. I remember those late nights up studying and hanging out in the library. I decided to put together a sweet care package for her late nights in the library.

What's inside?

- A variety of snacks- sweet, sour, salty
- Favorite drink
- Fun pens and pencils to get work done
- Note pad to remember things to do

Then you find a super cute bag like this one from Target and add the goodies and hand to a super stressed friend.

Deployment Survival Care Package

My sweet friend who lives in Tennessee husband deployed this month. I wanted to do something for her but living so far away my options were limited. I decided to send her a care package. I searched and searched on Pinterest and Googled and could not find anyone who had posted on what to send to the wife of a deployed solider, only what to send to a deployed solider. So I had to get creative. I headed over to the trusty Target and got to shopping.

What's inside?

- Cute little note cards to write love letters to her husband
- Fancy pens to write said love letter
- Bubbles to enjoy a relaxing bath
- Lotion for post bath continued relaxing
- A candle that smells like the beach since we are both from Charleston
- Gold nail polish for sassy nails :)
- Valentine's Balloons that are tiny that when hit pop up into balloons to add to her husband's Valentine's package
- A Taylor Swift card, to remind her of the Country Music Festival we will be attending in June in Nashville
- A Deployment Survival Cup, which is a wine glass from Etsy

I found a super cute pink and green chevron packing envelope at Target. Pack all of your goodies into the cute envelope and mail!

Twenty-Two

My dear friend Annie turned 22 on Sunday so we loaded up the car and headed up to Charlotte. We first headed to Southpark Mall. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. A girls shopping trip is already in the works for sometime soon with my sister and a friend.

Then we headed over to Trampoline World. It was so much fun! I was exhausted after 5 minutes and still had 55 minutes left. And I was super sore the next two days. It was a great workout and super fun!

Then we went to Cheesecake Factory for dinner and it was delicious. I hadn't been in forever, oh I missed it. We embarrassed Annie by getting everyone to sing Happy Birthday and got delicious cheesecake!

Happy Birthday sweet friend. Hope 22 is good to you!

Happy Monday

So after FINALLY getting computer access at work Friday afternoon, I come to work the morning just to find out the networks are down and I again can't get on the computer. So I'm just sitting. Again. Like I did for two and a half days last week. I just don't understand a company this big with this many computer issues. Anyway.

My work clothes challenge has gone well. I'll be posting pictures after I have more than just 3 days worth.

Hope you are having a better Monday than I am.

New Beginnings

Happy 2013! Hope you had a nice and restful Christmas, mine sure was. So I don't have any resolutions, well maybe my resolution is to make goals for every month. Each month I want to have several things that I would like to accomplish. I wrote January's goal a few weeks ago:

-employment   I can cross this off the list already because I start tomorrow!
-gym 3 times a week
-no fast food
-blog 3 times a week
-stick to cleaning schedule
-have at least 20 families at Kidtown Open House

To go along with employment and I guess these goals too, I have been challenged to only wear what is already in my closet to work each day for the first month. Then for the second month, I can buy 5 staple items to add to my wardrobe. If you saw the size of my closet, you know the challenge of it is not coming up with a month's worth of outfits, but stopping myself from shopping :)

Have a great 2013 and I'll be seeing more of you on the blog, with house updates, goal progress updates and clothing choices.

xoxo
